Minehead – Visited July 2015
Sadly it was not the best weather for visiting Minehead and we didn't get to see it in its best light. The seafront is quite long, sweeping 'round to the fairly small harbour and we would consider revisiting on hopefully a better day.

_ Cheddar Gorge
A beautiful place, that gets lots of visitors all year, there is a small car park, many shops and great views of the gorge.

Weston-Super-Mare - Last Visit July 2018
It had been a while since we had last visited Weston-Super-Mare, so it was nice to be able to return whilst staying at Tobacconist Farm Campsite in the Cotswolds. To get here we decided to drive to Worle station and get the train from there, return tickets for 2 adults was £5.80, unexpectedly, we also had to pay for parking at the station, which was £2.40, however it was still better than driving all the way in, parking and potentially getting stuck in rush hour traffic when leaving.

We were lucky enough to visit on a glorious summers day, there was a strong breeze, but still warm enough. Weston-Super-Mare is a very big town, so there's plenty to see and do. The station is about a 5-minute walk from the main high street shops, there's the usual selection of clothes shops my wife likes to visit, Dorothy Perkins, New Look, Peacocks, but there's also a selection of other shops.

Walking along the front can take a while, from the high street it goes for some distance in either direction, we headed North. It's a lovely walk up past marine lake, which is a nice large pool, separated from the open sea by a causeway. We chose to walk back along the causeway, which due to the rough sea, was getting sprayed over, so you do have to be careful with your timing or you may get considerably wet.

Following the building back around and towards the seafront, there's a lovely cafe called Dr Fox's Tearoom, they do a lovely selection of scones.

From here we headed back towards the Grand Pier, built in 2010 following the previous building being burnt down. To access the pier it costs £1, there's a short walk along the pier with splendid views looking back at Weston-super-Mares' variety of coastal buildings, before you reach the impressive grand pier building.  This new building is very large and packs a lot in, it's an entertainment hub, with rides you'd normally find in a theme park, but inside (smaller versions), a large variety of arcade machines, 2 Formula 1 simulators, a go kart track as well as some smaller rides for younger children.

Back along the promenade and continuing, there's less to do, the sand sculpture exhibit appears to have become a permanent feature and there was a selection of inflatables on the left in the central island.

The slideshow below also includes images from 2009 when we went on the big wheel.

Porlock Weir
Not a great deal there, just a car park and a view, but don't take the toll road (porlock hill bypass) from here, as it’s steep and takes you through a forest!
