Yorkshire Wildlife Park

There is a very different feel to this park in comparison to other more commercial attractions and in that respect, it’s very similar to the Donkey Sanctuary we visited in Devon.

The park is spread over a very large area, which means the animals have large open fields to roam and the pathways are very wide, clean and uncluttered. There are a few kiosks around to get food, drinks and ice creams, but as these have been kept to a minimum, some can get very busy.

Everything seems to blend together and with limited number of kiosks, there are no unsightly overflowing litter bins and it’s actually nice to take a picnic, find a bench and sit and watch the animals in peaceful surroundings.

Since we last visited, there have been some new additions, including the very popular Giraffes and although some of the larger animals are a distance from view, there are several areas where you can get closer, including the goats and sheep contact area, lemur woods and the Giraffe house.

There are several opportunities for you to find out more information about the animals via the rangers talks, but check the timetables so you don’t miss out.
